What you get

Workout habits are built through persistence and repetition. Because of this, we’ll have daily reminders, and offer you daily opportunities to communicate to your coach that you are, indeed, participating and crushing your workouts.

We want you to be successful, so we provide a constant stream exercise or coaching tips. The workouts run Monday through Saturday so if that is your preference, you can use our program and our daily workout every day of the week.

We don’t believe in simulating functional movement with a dumbbell, barbell or whatever the latest exercise equipment craze may be today. Our workouts are designed to strengthen and improve your ability to move in real life. Each of the daily workout routines will exercise different muscle and movement patterns to help you avoid injury due to repetitive movement. We also focus on ensuring that we maximize your body’s ability to burn fat by taxing different energy systems for every workout.

Your coach

You’ll be assigned your own experienced fitness coach. They will rely on a team of trainers who are responsible for developing your workout. This team has years of experience designing training programs for individuals and groups.

When you join the Virtual Personal Training program, if you have a minor muscle injury or a temporary physical limitation, your coach will work with you to understand your limitation and customize and can adjust the workout portions of the program to meet your needs.

We are all certified trainers who ran our own “brick and mortar” gym for years before we decided we could help a broader, more diverse group of people by taking our training business online.

We’ve tried and trained a number of workout modalities and exercise systems. In addition to being certified in nutrition coaching, personal training and group training, we have extensive experience as runners, triathletes, and weight lifters. These days, now that some of us are in our mid-40s, we have become super excited about training Parkour / Free Running.

Having a hard time motivating yourself to get to the gym? Whether you prefer e-mail, instant messaging, FaceTime, Skype or the phone, your coach can be there to help talk it through.

Your Workout

Your assigned workouts will start on the closest Monday to when you sign up. We have a number of daily workout activities available, and we can design something explicitly for you should you want it.

We typically give you a new routine every couple of weeks. Partially to prevent you from getting bored with it, but also to keep your body adapting. That said, you’ll still probably recognize parts of the workout from routine to routine.

A workout can take you anywhere from between 20 minutes to over an hour to complete. How long is dependent on a number of factors, including the stage of the program you’re in, how you’re feeling that day, what day it is, whether it’s a High Intensity Interval Training Day or a Resistance Training day, etc.

If the workout we have assigned you isn’t working for you that day, you can always do an activity of your own choice. After all, it’s up to you how you choose to go about achieving your fitness goals! Of course, our programs are designed with a specific outcome in mind, so changing it will probably lead to a different outcome than what we set out to achieve…

Your Dashboard

The Personal Training dashboard is a feedback and accountability tool we use.

The dashboard will load the current action and activity that your coach has scheduled for you on that day.

The dashboard can be used to indicate that you’ve completed your activity (workout)  as well as that you’ve completed the daily action.

You can also enter your own notes about your day, your workout or anything else you feel like recording in this context. Your notes will get encoded before they are sent to our system. That way do our best to protect your privacy.

Your Weekly Measurements

Another – optional – tool to help your goal achievement, is the Weekly Measurements entry page.

As coaches, we won’t monitor or track your entries without you requesting us to, but we believe seeing the results of your workout efforts on the scale and with the measurement tape is an opportunity you should be given.

As a result, we offer to track, save and visualize your body’s relevant metrics free of charge.

Our program makes this tracking page available to you every Saturday while you’re a member. We graph and list your metrics along with your workout history and let you monitor them on your private Progress Overview page.

Progress Overview

Our goal is to help you see the progress you’re making, identify things you can do to accelerate that progress and coach you through the steps needed to get there. To help you visualize your progress, we track and display your results from the exercises you do (reps & weights). We also track & display your assignment, activity and action consistency.

All over an encrypted connection.

As you can see, the Virtual Personal Trainer service is an extremely versatile and affordable personal training / accountability program. One you can do anywhere and everywhere. Using whatever equipment you have available (including existing gym memberships, sofas, dining tables, stair cases, etc).

No gym membership needed

We won’t be asking you to join our gym, or any gym for that matter. After all, what’s the point of having an online personal training service, if you also have to join a gym?!?

We want to give you a awesome and fun workout. To do that our routines will encourage you to use the natural environment around you.

Or, if you prefer, you can add the equipment in your preferred gym to your workouts. Ultimately, it’s up to you. We believe our body is an awesome instrument and workout tool all on its own, no special machines or weights needed.
